New air conditioned bungalow (with extra bedside fan) in beautiful, quiet, romantic Gili Meno, one of the famous Gili islands between Bali and Lombok. Contact us for special rates during off peak season or for long term stays.
Spacious private bungalow with bathroom (shower and toilet are close together as is typical in this type of accommodation on the islands), queen sized bed with mosquito net, free WIFI, bedside lamps and a porch for relaxing in the quiet. Sometimes you can even hear the gentle waves from the nearby eastern beach, and if you're in luck - maybe Madé strumming gently on his guitar.
Interaction with Guests
We can help you find your way around the island and for boat trips to go diving or snorkelling. Or take the short boat trip to Lombok to visit local markets, trek Mr Rinjani and see spectacular natural waterfalls.
Madé is a local, speaks English well and can help you get to know the local lifestyle and sights.
We live at Meno Madia also and will be around or nearby in Lombok to help you with anything you need during your stay.
Please call or email us with any questions.
Gili Meno is the quietest and least developed of the three Gili islands. It is like going back in time! There are electrical power failures on the island from time to time. They occur randomly, and can last from a few minutes to hours at a time. When that happens the wifi and aircon etc will not work. Take the opportunity to have a walk through the local village or enjoy the beach :).
The island is quite small and you can walk around it in a leisurely 1 to 1.5 hours. There is now a company near the harbour renting bicycles which are great for the inland and village but can be a little hard to manage on the sandy tracks around the beach areas.
Other Things to Note
The bungalows are new and so the garden is young. It has been an extra long dry season and now that we've finally had some rain, we have begun planting a lovely little garden.
We have a new kitchen and will cook you a tasty breakfast (some fruit and pancakes, eggs or good Indonesian food) with coffee or tea. On the occasions that we are in Lombok you are welcome to help yourself to toast and eggs or toast and condiments.
Gili Meno has no fresh water of its own (more expensive accommodation houses freight water in from Lombok) but our well water is clean and fresh and not too salty. Like most similar places, we do not have hot water but the water is not too cold either :).
Finding us is easy via a short walk along the beach or through the local island village. We can help with directions or help you to find a horse and cart to carry you and your luggage.
The bungalows are new and we have just a few reviews so far... We hope you can help us out there if you enjoy your stay!
Stay for two nights or take a special break for a month! Ask us about our long term rates.
We take pride in offering a clean and as quiet a space as possible and hope you will appreciate the same. Please, no smoking inside, and please turn off the air conditioner and lights whenever you are not in the room as electricity is expensive on the island. Also, the bungalow power doesn't like hair dryers - but really, you won't need one here ;)!
Please keep the bungalow and kitchen key safe and secure with your personal belongings when you leave the room; we do ask for a replacement fee if the keys are lost).
Lastly, our WIFI is very good, but it is NOT UNLIMITED, so please refrain from watching videos, movies, downloads etc as it will very quickly use all our wifi credit which is surprisingly expensive here.
About the area
Meno Madia Bungalows are situated a few hundred metres from the eastern beach - beautiful for swimming and snorkelling. You will see many colourful fish and turtles on the nearby reefs all around the island. Watch the sun rise from behind the Mt Rinjani mountain range. The west beaches are also a short walk away, where you can enjoy sunset drinks with the view to Mt Agung in Bali.
There is also an inland salt lake with native wildlife and bird life. Getting around the island is easy, and there is now a company near the harbour renting out bicycles.
The call to prayer at the local mosque can be heard sometimes but only in the distance. There is no motorised transport on the island and Meno Madia Bungalows are in a quiet part of the village.
There are plenty of local warung eateries or fancy bars and restaurants nearby.
A new Balinese restaurant with a good chef has just opened close to us :).
