At Ibu Maria’s Homestay, three two room bungalows over water are connected to shore based bathroom, toilet and dining facilities by a boardwalk.
All rooms have free standing double beds with covers, pillows, bolsters and mosquito nets. Ibu Maria’s is the only homestay where you’ll also find wardrobes and mirrors in your room. Floor mats and bathtowels are also provided. Single or twin beds can be arranged if required.
The bungalows have shared verandahs with separate tables and chairs for each room. Each verandah has a sloping ladder style exit to ocean for swimming.
Ibu Maria’s has a large beachside dining shelter with long table and benches and 3 beachside benches and a small table setting for relaxing. Bathrooms are dip mandi style with western pedestal toilets.
No smoking in the room.
No recycling facilities, please bring what is necessary to collect and bring back your wastes back to Sorong.
About the area
Ibu Maria’s is at the western end of a large bay with seagrass shallows, corals and multitudes of fish. There are views across the strait to Kri, Ransiwor and Mansuar. Turtles may sometimes be seen in the bay and the beach is sheltered from tidal currents and safe for children.
8 sets of snorkelling gear are available for hire at IDR 150,000 per day each and there’s good snorkeling over seagrass and coral at front of the homestay.
A Kabui Bay day tour is available for IDR 3,000,000 per boat, with the cost able to be shared among up to 10 passengers. Lunch is provided.
If Wayag is open, day trips can be arranged for IDR 10,000,000 per boat, shared among up to a maximum of 6 passengers.
Piaynemo day trips are available for IDR 4,000,000 per boat, shared among up to 6 passengers.
Ibu Maria’s Homestay can also organise trips to see Gam’s Red Birds of Paradise or any of the region’s other many sights.
