Description
Named after John’s oldest daughter, Elora, this is a house of light and style. Originally a part of the Hardy family home, this ironwood and redwood house was lovingly relocated, piece by piece, and offered to guests of Bambu Indah. Elora, also a designer (see her INK talk here and work here: ####/), has lent her touches to this large home suitable for a family of four if also renting the upstairs room (additional charges apply)*. The décor, selected by Elora herself, is accented with Tibetan carpets and antique Chinese and Javanese furniture. It has a downstairs bedroom with a private garden bathroom.
The large wrap-around porch overlooks the edibles garden where you can see Bali butterflies compete for the first bloom from the pea vines. Fabrics cascade everywhere from the 20 foot ceilings to cover the glass walls at night for privacy and then lend themselves to the light of the morning. This house is a nurturing spot for family time with an outdoor game table of chess (a Balinese favorite) and a trunk packed with family games. It is also ideal for long term stays for the working traveller.
*An upstairs bedroom, named after John’s son, Orin, is available for another couple or for the kids, also with their own private bathroom down the spiral staircase. Orin’s room can sleep two kids in separate twin beds or one couple in a large bed.
